Words to Remember- "Big and small, God made them all."
We completed our somewhat...ok, who am I kidding...our VERY choppy unit on dinosaurs! Now, that I begin every unit recap with a disclaimer that we were behind or the lessons were chopped up some into different days, I am realizing that's just the way it will be for us! ;) But we get it all done and I guess that is all that matters! :)
Day 1, we had our basic introduction to the dinosaurs. The curriculum came with a very neat book that Grayson enjoyed very very much. What Really Happened To Dinosaurs? And I made some clay fossils imprints the night before that dried out and he got to match! It was also Veterans Day, so of course, we spent a good bit of time discussing this! :)

| These were fossils I made! I found this fun! And after drying for 36 hours you can hide them and dig for them!! :) |

Day 2, was busy and fun! We completed our worksheets and calendar time (we even got to bundle a group of 10 straws...he was quite excited to have completed 60 days!!!), made clay dinos, and used our light box for the first time! He thought this was pretty cool, and I am sure we will be using that again soon!
Day 3, was a special day! We had visitors (two of our very favorites!!) and we went on a dino dig! These were the fossils I made a couple days before! He dug for them, cracked them open and found a dino in each one! He enjoyed this, but it sure was chilly! :)
Day 4, was a great one also! He has days when he is really really into it and this was one of them! He was very focused and this made it even more fun than usual! He spent a small amount of time "organizing" each crayon, pencil, and marker in his pencil box...this was very cute! We reviewed words (shinning his Lego flashlight on the word I called out!), made a huge dino out of paper bags, and had a small sewing lesson. Yes! I taught my boy to sew! As I mentioned before, he is quite the thinker so this seemed something that occupied his mind very well! And everyday since he has asked if we would sew some more! I did tell him I would try my best to give he and Ada lessons in sewing when they were both in school together! He was happy with that!
Day 5, was a short one! But we did manage to get our book read and illustration done! He had to illustrate his favorite part! He chose "If dinosaurs came back they could push away the rain clouds so the sun could always shine!" :)
Day 6, we caught up with dino print cookies and stuffing our giant paper dinosaur! It was a fun unit and he had lots of fun! It sparked good conversation about extinction and what happens after death. And excuse the almost daily camo. He is at a very camo age, so we just go with it! ;) I have to wash camo shirts every other day, just so he has a clean one! ;) So, the eighth unit is in the books...we have ventured on to the octopus now! It's starting to fly by, (even Grayson says so!) and I hope we can keep up!!! :)
