The Mountains Are Calling

Our little family of 6 recently took a short vacation to the mountains of North Carolina. It was Analeigh's first trip, which was fun and it included a train ride for the birthday boy. Months ago, when asked what he wanted for his birthday, Grady said with conviction, that all he wanted was to ride a real train. And that's just what we did! His birthday, being in October, is the perfect mountain weather, and my person Loves the mountains! We had the MOST AMAZING birthday celebrating, train riding, pumpkin patch playing, waterfall chasing, front porch swinging, fire side chatting, family time in the mountains. These truly are the best days of our life. Every memory we make with these little treasures of ours are just wonderful. And each year just seems to get better, if that is even possible! These are the days my dreams were made of. Looking forward to all the gifts this Autumn has to offer!

Five Whole Years of Awesome

My baby boy. How is it even possible that you are 5?!? I can't even believe it! This year has been your coming out party. This is when you have begun to show us just who you are. You've always been our quiet one, just observing everything and slowly making your mark, your place here. You bring humor, common sense, and quiet. You can be loud, you're a boy...you can be REALLY loud. ha! But for the most part you're a pretty go with the flow, timid, shy, and simple guy. You're a man of few words...no unnecessary fluff, just what's needed. Your compassionate and love deep. You love intentional. Again, no unnecessary fluff, just express from your heart. Every so often, my eyes catch yours and you'll stare right back at me, with all the love. You don't have to say a single word. A deep treasured love and I stare you right back, hoping you know that I love you that much and more! Occasionally you will hug so tight and give a timid "I love you", and I can feel it in your words. You're the one who craves night time cuddles and when they are offered, I don't pass up the opportunity for an extra snuggle. You're our night owl, no napping, sweet boy!
You play amazing defense in soccer. If you had a choice to stay in undies or get dressed and go out, it's ALWAYS stay home in undies! You're a fantastic boy! A rough and tumble, super hero loving, play wrestling, dig in the dirt, best brother, kind of boy. I appreciate the simplicity and gentleness of your character. I'm so proud of how you have embraced being a big brother and all the things you're learning now. I'm so very grateful we were given the gift of you, our youngest boy. Happy 5th birthday, beautiful boy! I can't wait to see what's next.
