Celebrating 100 Days of Kindergarten!

Today we have completed 100 days!!! Hard to believe it's been that many! And we celebrated in Powell fashion! ;) We had lots of little math, writing, and art activities and little sister did them right along side us! That was fun! She LOVES school! :)
To start off the built a tower (or castle, as Ada called it) from 100 cups!
Grayson drew a picture of himself at 100 years old! I love the blond hair! ;)

Finally got our sticker chart full and moved our straws to the hundreds cup! :)
Got them moving with 100 different exercises! :)
Our 100 day hats! :)
Pizzas!!! Grayson learned a little about graphing with this one! And in his little math lover way, he totally enjoyed it! (I try not show how weirded out this makes me!! ;) )
The last activity was counting out 10 groups of 10 little things and making a cool picture with them!
Ended our day with a surprise visitor and daddy brought home yummy pizza!! :)
We enjoyed ourselves and I can hardly believe in 80 more school days, Kindergarten will be over!!! Ahhhh!! And as I told Chris tonight, it has, by far been a wonderful wonderful experience! And it only makes me look forward to doing it again, with Ada next year! :) And of course tackling first grade, too!! Happy 100th day of school!!!! :)

Kisses From Heaven

The snow came. With all it's softness and beauty, the snow came! Carolina snow is rare and short lived, but oh so wonderful. Right in the dead of winter, when the grass is brown and the trees are bare, they are, in one night, blanketed in the most beautiful powdery white snow. A blanket formed from each tiny snowflake, falling from heaven and sticking together. It's magical. It's beautiful. It's joyous. And today, we soaked up every minute we could, enjoying this beautiful snow! Not tons, but just enough! ;)
The oldest two kids will remember today with such fondness. And Grady will probably giggle at his pictures in a few years! They went to sleep in the dead of winter and woke this morning to a whole new, magical, enchanting, beautiful world of snow! It was too powdery to make a snowman...maybe tomorrow, if there's any left! ;) But we played, ran, jumped, made angels, went sliding down the slide, made snow potatoes and ate snow cream! Yep! Pretty much the most perfect of all snow days that I can remember!! And until next time, maybe a few years from now, or maybe sooner, we will cling to the memories of this soft, beautiful snow!

"Snowflakes are kisses from heaven." ~Author Unknown

Until next time!! And in the words of my sweet sweet children, as the prayed before nap, "Thank you, God, for this wonderful snow."

" YOU came like a winter snow
Quiet and soft and slow
Falling from the sky in the night
To the earth below."
(Chris Tomlin, Winter Snow)

Anticipation!

Today has been a lesson in patience! An opportunity to anticipate! It was a day we have begged for, for years! A snow day! Only...it didn't snow!!! But we got up, fully expecting it to! We made food, washed clothes, cleaned, and did dishes all in anticipation for the snow that was too arrive at noon! We waited and waited and waited and by bed time, we had hardly seen an ice pellet!
We made the most of it though! We sang songs from the Frozen soundtrack, colored pictures, prepared and hoped and wished to see that much anticipated snow! And as my mother in love said, it was fun to hope a little! ;)

We even spent the evening catching up on school...(shhhh, don't tell anyone we were a day or two behind!) ;) Grayson and I had a long weekend! :) but we got it all done and had fun doing it, between our every 5 minute window checks! ;)
We finally gave up and tucked the kids in, only with the promise that if snow came, I WOULD wake them to let them see! And about 9 this evening that is just what we did! :) I am an adult and it still amazes me! Grayson was just that, amazed! "I finally know what real snow is like!!!" (Said in the sweetest, most sincere, sleepy 5 year old voice)
And Ada, well she never fully woke up and didn't really care much! But tomorrow she will finally play in snow! Our last big snow was just after we brought her home from the hospital, 4 years ago, to the day almost! Only off by a little over a week! And with her new love for Frozen, I can already see her playing and singing in that little bit of snow we have, tomorrow! :)
And as much as we anticipated today, I am anticipating tomorrow even more! Can't wait to play with my babies in that sweet Carolina snow! :)

Almost Perfect.

How do I sum up the weekend?? Amazing? Wonderful? Lovely? Perfect?...I think Perfect is most fitting. I have always been told that perfect is impossible...so let's say almost perfect. Although, the only imperfect thing I can think of is that it had to end. It very very sadly had to end. Oh how I wish it didn't! I seriously could have lived in this past weekend forever. Really.
Saturday was Ada's big recital day! We had lots of family and friends come see our little girl "shine like a star". I will try not to sound too proud, but she was really super cute and did a great job! And I will say she may have enjoyed the spotlight a little! ;)

As I said, her little show brought lots of family in town! And this, this is what made it perfect! I got a very rare morning to have breakfast with my mom, who I miss so much it hurts! And this was certainly nice. And then we spent almost the entire weekend with my mother and father-in-love and Chris' brother and wife! What a treat! Every once in a while we are all able to get together and the boys do boy things and the girls do girl things and then in the down time we do the family thing! Perfect. It was full of painted toes, gun range, good food, laughter, and lots of family time! Once again, perfect.

Tomorrow, the long weekend ends, and another school/work week begins. Basketball starts this week for Grayson! Hoping to conquer the little crud that's bothering my baby boy, and Ada is back to school and gymnastics tomorrow! Let's hope Mommy can continue her early rising and meal cooking this week! :) Certainly going to try! So, as this almost perfect, super long weekend sadly comes to a close, I smile! Smile, because it's weekends like this that remind me how incredibly good our God is. He has blessed me far beyond what I have ever deserved, and how grateful I am. I rejoice for this wonderful time that was given to us. And can not wait to do it again! Happy Monday! <3
