Tt-Turtle Unit Recap

Unit- Turtle
Letter- Tt
Number- 6
Words To Remember- "I don't quit; I persevere"

Turtles! Slow moving, snapping, God created, persevering creatures. We have successfully completed another unit! Not on time but all completed and we will persevere on! ;) Who knew you could learn such valuable life lessons from turtles?! :)

Day 1, was basic introduction, picture cards and we made play dough for the first time! I was even impressed by that! It turned out great, super soft and good smelling! :)

Day 2, we had little sister home with us so we all made baby egg carton turtles after we finished the calendar worksheets! And I added in a turtle packet from another Kindergarten blog, that he really enjoyed!

Day 3, we had our first experience with the blend ladder! I wasn't completely sure what to do with this, but after reading and researching it, I gave it my best try! He seemed to get it pretty quickly and this will be a part of our weekly lessons from now on! We also completed a couple worksheets and pretended to be turtles! He had to get in his shell when there was a predator and eat when there was food! Pretty fun! :)

Day 4, we continued to work on the turtle  book and made paper plate turtles in addition to the everyday stuff! :) We also chanted our words to remember as we cleaned our room..."I don't quit; I persevere"!! Ada was thrilled to be cleaning and chanting, Grayson....not so much, but he persevered to the finish! ;)

Day 5, we worked on a few words and ran races! The first race was just running and then each race after that was a little more difficult, each having more obstacles! The obstacles represented sin, and taught him how sin makes our life "race" more and more difficult. He really enjoyed this! He is a thinker and anything that gives him something to think about, he is all for it!

Day 6, completed the turtle unit and is always fun! The best part is, we made puppets to go with our book, so Daddy read it while Grayson and I acted it out with our puppets! We finished up our turtle book, danced to classical music, and moved like turtles and rabbits!

Tomorrow, we move on the a unit all about us! And we have a few special things happening for the 50the day of school! :) I discovered a website called Teachers Pay Teachers, wow! It's wonderful! Tons of printables! Some free, some you pay for...I used only free last night, but if your teaching, or planning to teach, it's definitely something to check out!!

Tuesday That Feels Like Monday

The weekend has come and gone, my non-morning person self is awake and ready for the week, reflecting on the weekend, and totally feeling like a Monday! But thanks to a long weekend it's really Tuesday! :)
We visited our favorites this weekend and celebrated Halloween! We played Saturday, attended church Sunday and Halloween festivities Sunday evening!
My princess attended her "ball" (really just trunk-or-treat), my Lego man got candy and then delighted in hanging out with Papa and Rosey giving out candy, and my little Lego piece just soaked it all in and danced to the music! :) It was a wonderfully fun time for all, I think! This coming week will be the first Halloween that we have not spent with Papa and Rosey so our weekend time was extra special!

We waited till Monday to return home, which was nice! Got soak up as much time as we can! :)
The kids and I had a fun time catching up with our cousins and friends to celebrate an upcoming birthday! Starr would be one of the best friends I have! I have loved growing up and having her as a friend, so it was pretty fun to chat and catch up (in between chasing Grady and rounding up kids!) :) We ate and bounced and played! They had a ball!! :)
Grayson and I even had school time before bed! He was in the mood...and with him, I am learning to just go with it, if the opportunity arises! ;)

So, here we are, on this Tuesday that feels like Monday...the little one is napping, Ada is off to 3k, and Gray has already done most of his school! I guess that means I have no excuse for the bags not being unpacked and this bomb explosion of a mess we have going on! Whoa! I don't know how they do this, but they sure are great it! And my ability to clean falls way short of their ability to "mess make"! ;) Happy Tuesday!
Looking forward to the week ahead! Halloween, school parties, Grayson's 50th day of school, and November! The "ber" months are certainly fun ones! :)

Fall Festival, Fair, Costumes, Oh My!

It's been one of those weeks that are full but drag. Fast but long. That may make no sense, but it does to me! :) The past weekend was packed with birthday party and church Fall Festival, which both were very enjoyable!

Monday we hit the Fair! The big kids had a wonderful time...after I found my keys that we spent 45 minutes looking for...but we made it! We rode every ride, went with their cousins, and ran into their best friends!

We had a couple kiddos who weren't feeling the best on Tuesday, so Grayson and I worked school around that and had a pretty laid back day! I think it's just what we all needed! :)

We spent the rest of the week doing the regular "stuff", finishing up Halloween costumes and trying to restore order to our mess!

We ended the week catching up on some school we were behind on, long naps, and hanging out with one of our favorite families! The kids love to be together and get along so well! Grayson loves having a big boy to play with! And Ada loves doing "big girl" stuff with her friend :) We had a fun little Fall party with fun food and activities! It was a lot of fun and great way to end this long, "draggy" week! :)

It's another week in the books! Thankful for even the ordinary, long weeks! Looking forward to the upcoming Halloween festivities and family time! :) Let the holiday season begin! Just 9 more weeks until Christmas! :)
