The apple! Fun, fun unit! We measured, tasted, picked, made a pie, jello and applesauce! It was a packed 6 days!! But, like I said...fun! :)
Day 1, we had our basic introduction to our unit, and made apple juice jello and had an apple snack! :) Grayson was thrilled we finally filled up the sunny graph! We have been very fortunate with the weather since school started! It's been great! :)
Day 2, we graphed and measured! Sorted by color and size! He also made his own apple tree, and I was super proud of his perfect handwriting! It was awesome! :)
Day 4 and 5 were full and fun! We combined those days since we took Friday off to go pick apples! :) As I said before, he loves math so he always does well on that day! We did our worksheets, cut apples to find the surprise star inside, made applesauce, read our book and made our yummy apple pie! :)
We tossed apples, did an apple tree craft and our cuisenaire rods.
I think with this unit has been particularly enjoyable, not only because of the activities themself, but because we were able to actually involve the family! It definitely added to the enjoyment! :) Looking ahead at the next unit, it looks like we will soon be tackling reading more in depth! Sounds exciting and a little scary! I know he will love it! He wants to read books without help so starting on word lists and story writing will surely be exciting for him! :) Very much to look forward to, and although the task seems daunting at times, I know with God's guidance and help, it is certainly doable! :) So, off to the nest unit we go!!
