The Potter

"Yes you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand." Isaiah 64:8

Grayson and I were working on making clay pots for school, as we talked about in bible times how people had to fetch their water everyday. As we attempted to make these pots...we had quite a difficult time, we would work a little and get a hole, or make it too flimsy it would collapse, or just plain didn't like it. As we continued working the clay, Isaiah 64:8 came into my head. He and I talked about how God is constantly molding us. Filling in our holes, making us a little sturdier, reshaping us when we get bent out of shape. What a beautiful image I had as I watched my son shape his clay with such care...the image of God doing just that way to us. The care Grayson gave his clay doesn't even come close to the love and care our Heavenly Father has when He's shaping us. I'm so grateful for a Father who doesn't give up on me and just keeps molding me. No matter how many times I get it wrong. In the middle of my lack of faith, my lack of self control, or my lack of good judgement, He's right there molding me. Shaping me. Making me the work of His hands.

"Take me, Mold me, use me, fill me
I give my life to the Potter's hand
Call me, guide me, lead me, walk beside me
I give my life to the Potter's hand

You gently call me into your presence guiding me by your Holy Spirit
Teach me dear Lord to live all of my life through your eyes
I'm captured by your Holy calling
set me apart, I know your drawing me to yourself
lead me Lord I pray"

I Blinked...

I was admiring my children...as most mothers do...and I realized, they were growing up. I mean, I know it happens and it's supposed to, but some days it seems like they go to bed and wake up years older. The past couple months have been jammed packed with school, gymnastics, cub scouts and growing. I wish that I had done a better job keeping up with everything, but let's face it, that is just sometimes the last thing on the list...and very rarely do I get to the last thing on the list! ;) So I'm just going to lump it all into this one post! I've done a terrible job at keeping track of school happenings this year, and to be honest First Grade hasn't so much been a struggle, more so just a bore! He and I are learning stuff and we are having fun doing it (most of the time)...but when you come from the units we did in Kindergarten, it's quite a change! We are both looking forward to wrapping this year up and moving on to new things this summer/fall! God has shown us a direction and we are just going to run with it! ;)
Anyway, the pictures that follow will be random happenings over the last couple months in school, gymnastics, and cub scouts...and of course our little tag along sweet love.

Going way back to late February, Grayson participated in his first pinewood derby! He had a blast! He enjoyed making the car and racing the car. He chose to do a Minecraft theme car, which he ended up naming "The Steve". He turned out to be a pretty good car! Earned him third place in the pack race and 5th place at the district. He was very satisfied with it and had a whole lot of fun. Cub Scouts has definitely been a good fit for him. We were fortunate enough to have Papa and Rosey at the first race and my mom was able to take him to his second. It was a blessing to have them be able to participate. :)

Staying on the Cub Scouts subject, Grayson also participated in his first Blue and Gold Banquet for his pack. This was a fun experience as well. They had to make a cake, which once again, Grayson was all into. He and I "get" each other when it comes to making stuff, and it's so fun! He mixed batter, crushed cookies, unwrapped 1000 Kit Kats..ok maybe more like 15 but still...and he chocolate dipped pretzel sticks. He had a blast putting his "Kit Kat Campsite" together, and bonus, he won judges choice and most patriotic! :) During the ceremony they awarded each Tiger Cub with their own walking stick that has the badge plates they have earned on it, and it's something he can continue to add to as he moves up in rank. This is quite a prize to him. So overall, Cub Scouts met his expectations this year. It's for sure something he looks forward to continuing! :)

 Cousins!!

Grayson and Daddy had their first over night, away from home, camp out. He had a BLAST! And it was a whopping 30 degrees that night...mama was a wreck, but they lived to tell about it. ;) And while the house was quiet, I finished smocking a dress I had been working on...and it was darling on her! The smocking is still a bit amateur, but I'm slowly improving.

Most recently we had a small family get together for Easter a tad early since some of us scatter here and there on the holidays. That was a fun treat to have cousins together enjoying time with one another. We followed that with an egg hunt at church and new hair cut! We had resisted letting Grayson get his hair cut like this...after a while I began to ask myself why and most reasons pointed to my selfishness and opinions. So we decided to step aside and let him have his way and do his hair like he wants with in reason...let him be his own person. He was proud of that hair do! Until we went out and then he decided he didn't like people looking at him. Ha. Funny how that works! Lesson learned though! As long as the clothes and hair is appropriate, THAT is not a battle worth fighting! Got to give them some independence to explore their own style. ;) Parenthood lesson #5749! ;)

Despite very few pictures to prove it, we have gotten school done on a regular basis. ;) And we are planning/hoping to finish up the 3 or 4th week of April...super excited! And So hard to believe I will have a SECOND grader next year!?! He's working hard and learning lots...he teaches me math and science, I teach him phonics and writing. ;) He is also participating in an art class with 5 other students, which he seems to really enjoy! It's been a wonderful experience...because neither he nor I were able to teach that one! ;) Ada is blossoming into a wonderful little student. These two kids are polar opposites, but it's fun! Keeps me on my toes. She LOVES to write, which is a joy to see. She's a drawer and very creative. She's definitely loving school! :)

Ada also recently competed in her last competition of the year, and state competition, that is! She made her mama and daddy proud and loved every single minute of it. She is thrilled to start learning level 2 skills now. She came home with first on floor, fourth on vault and bars, and didn't place on beam because of a rough landing...but finished up THIRD all around! So so proud of her. She is something else! ;)

She and I were able to have a date night this past week and that was fun! We did Pizza Hut and painted pottery. They were having a mommy and me class painting egg platters so we joined! She had a great time and did a wonderful job! She wanted to paint fish so that's just what we did. :)

Speaking of blossoming, this little one is taking off! He's found his voice...and uses it! He's learning his colors, shapes, and numbers. He's beginning to dress himself. He's a independent boy and loves to play. He will spend hours pushing trucks, digging dirt and catching bugs. My sweet sweet boy!

"Jesus loves meeee" <3

It's been a fun few months and it's flown by! I am so so grateful for the gift of time to watch them grow, I blinked and here we are, a five year old princess, almost seven year old leader of the pack, and a sweet baby boy who will turn three this fall...My heart is full <3
