Ll- Leaf Unit Recap

Unit- leaf
Letter- Ll
Number- 3
Words to Remember- "I will live and grow in Jesus"

Our third unit has been completed..took us slightly longer than 6 days, but we are back on track and moving on to a new unit tomorrow! :) I actually had a substitute for one day during this unit! And what better substitute could you ask for than Rosey?!? I think they both enjoyed it!!! :)
So we got all our assignments and worksheets done and were able to do some pretty fun activities....I do love the system behind this curriculum! I personally was a little terrified at the thought of teaching a child to do math or read, but the curriculum seems to know what it's doing, I just have to follow it! So I do! And I hope for the best! ;)
One very exciting thing about this unit is that we got to change our season!! Yay for Autumn! :)
Just a few leaves to add to the excitement! :)

Day 1, was basic introduction to the unit and fun little tree art! :) he enjoyed the sensory bin of pumpkins, leaves, and acorns! And the book work was a breeze this day!

Day 2, after a little struggle doing the book work part (he sometimes fights doing this part!), we set out to gather some leaves! He loves this kind of thing! So other than Mommy picking Poison Oak for us to examine (yep! I did that!!)...it was a lot of fun!! We went inside and traced what we found and put them under books to press them!
Day 3, was leaf rubbings, patterns and his unit badge! :) He LOVES the leaf rubbings!! He shows everyone and tells them about the leaves and how they have veins! ;) It was a big hit!

Day 4, was a family school day! :) We had lots of fun! Chris was happy to play a part, Ada Grayce loved participating in the activities, and Grayson was the center of attention, so he was delighted!
We made a fruit loop tree, and leaf paintings, played our letter match game and had our bible story and calendar time! It was a lot of fun! :)

Day 5, we talked more about our bible story and how when a leaf seperates itself from the plant, it gets thirsty and hungry, brown and wrinkly. Just the same if we seperate ourselves from God! He totally got this comparison, which amazed me! He is a very deep thinker...always has been!! ;)
We put our pressed leaves in an album and we ate leaves!! Chocolate dipped ones! I think we were supposed to eat spinach and lettuce...but the chocolate dipped ones caught my eye! And he loved it, as well as Mommy and Ada! ;)

Day 6 was Rosey's day! :)

It was a fun unit! And really kinda flew by!! I think his very favorite was the leaf rubbings and patterns! And I was most pleased with his ability to connect the bible lessons with his current life! He even taught me a thing or two! :)
One very exciting accomplishment was writing his name perfectly! We have really talked a lot about staying in those lines and using capital and lower case! He got it! With no help! :) Like I said before...some days paper work is a breeze and he is motivated, and other days not so much!!! ;)

So unit 3 is in the books and today we are on to the Apple Unit! Looking forward to lots and lots of fun with that one!! :)
