New Year...New Resolutions.

I am a goal oriented a person. A list maker. A list checker offer. That's me. I like to have organization. I like to know where I am headed or working towards. With all that being said, I have never really done much with New Years Resolutions. Until last year. I realized that, as corny as it may seem sometimes, New Years is actually a good time to make new goals. And even reflect on the past year to see what is was that you did accomplish. So I did. Last year, for the first time I made resolutions. There were a handful of them, and I typed them up in the notes portion of my phone so that I could always check back to see what I could check off! And as most people say, you do forget about halfway through the year, when life gets stirred up, what those small (or big) goals you wanted to accomplish were, and on occasion you do lose interest. But I did it anyway.

So here the are...my list from last year...
1.Lose 60 pounds(yes, I know, this is on almost EVERYONES list, but I really really want/need to...pregnancy has done interesting things to my scale! ;) )...yea, well, I got halfway there. I didn't do as good at this as I could have...and I hope to finish it off this year, but I did try...sometimes.
2.Learn to sew with a pattern...and I did! And I got several more to try! Because I think it actually turned out pretty good! :)
3.Learn to can...yea, didn't even give this a second thought, but it was a good idea.
4.Make crock pot meals once a month...I did!! Not every month, but we really enjoyed most of them that I made! It is a great way for a mama of littles to "cook" without spending lots of time and mess doing it! Works out great for us and we will definitely continue with it.
5.No tech day once a month...hmmm, well embarrassed to say, this only happened twice. But I tried :/
6. Be a more awakened mommy. By this, I mean being more mindful. Starting the days with smiles. Playing more, celebrating more, and being a peaceful parent. More than anything, taking time to notice the abundance in my life. This I did try to focus on and I feel like I learned a lot this year. A LOT. And it will probably be an honorary member on my New Years Resolution list in the future.
7. Pray TOGETHER everyday...this I just kind of made for Chris and I. We are both what I would consider spiritual people. We rely heavily on faith and God. This year, has proven to a be a year that required prayer, but more than that, I wanted to pray on the good days too. We do pray together, but occasionally, we go to sleep when our heads hit the pillow and hit the floor running in the mornings...it's just life with all these little people. some days, our "togetherness" is more of a divide and conquer type! ;) But prayer is important, on the good and bad days, and praying together builds a mighty strong foundation. And this one, too, make the list every year! :)

So 4.5 out of 7...I guess that's not too bad! ;)

And after much deliberation and thought, I have rolled some of last years resolutions over to this year (I guess you can do that), and I have made some new ones...some big, some small, but here they are!

1.Craft lots...I think a resolution should always include things that make you happy, and this makes me happy!! :) So why not?!
2. I want to cook more (stop laughing). Those who know me, know this is not something I do a lot of, but on occasion I do. I get turned off by the mess the kids make when I try to cook, by the occasional recipe disaster, and by the mess. My goal is to get the kids cooking with me...and maybe cleaning up too! ;) I really want to cook more. I always use the crock pot...that and frozen foods is the only way my family eats. But I want to do more recipe cooking.
3. I have to go to the dentist...don't be totally grossed out, but the thought of going sends me into a little conniption...I really really really don't like the dentist. I put my best effort into taking really good care of my teeth, and I take my kids to the dentist every 6 months...but I just really really really have a hard time taking myself. But this year...sometime, I really need to do that.
4. Cut Grady's hair (once again, stop laughing)...I didn't have a hard time cutting Grayson's...he had a little sister on the way and he was a big boy, but Grady is my baby and I am just not so ready. Only he is growing quite the mullet...and I really really should give it a little trim. Soon. Very soon.
5. Be a more awakened mommy. By this, I mean being more mindful. Starting the days with smiles. Playing more, celebrating more, and being a peaceful parent. More than anything, taking time to notice the abundance in my life. Find beauty in each day. Maybe I will even add grace to this this year. Live gracefully.
6. Read more...ok honestly this probably won't happen. I have never been a novel reader...I do have a high interest in history...US and world, and I do love books for mommy's by mommy's, But as far as reading a fictional novel...it just doesn't happen. I was kinda hoping to read some this year though. Guess we will see! :)
7.Be more flexible...
8.Spend more one-on-one time with each child...if that's even possible!
9.And I guess the dreaded weight loss would have to make the list...maybe finish off what I started last year. Hopefully! ;)
10. And finally prayer...pray everyday!

These things may or may not happen, but it's fun to set little goals and see where it goes!
