30 Days of Thankfulness

Today, it was chilly, cloudy, and just very "Fallish". It was nice. The leaves on the trees have been turning for awhile, but today, the combination of cool air and cloudiness made the colors seem unusually brilliant to me. It felt like Fall. It felt like Thanksgiving! So today, I am thankful for seasons. More than just seasons of the calendar year, but seasons of life. Changes. Just like seasons of the year, each season of our life has its own brilliance, growth, and occasionally the nagging seasonal allergy! ;)

I am not a fan of most change...in fact, I very rarely tolerate change without bucking it in one way or another or becoming quite anxious! It's just me! I get set in my routine, my ways, and that can make change difficult! But, as much as I dislike major change, I am thankful for it. I am learning that it's the seasons of change that shape us. It's the seasons of change that grow us and make us who we are. So many many changes happen in our life! We go to school, we get married, we become parents, we grow older, we form new relationships and let some go...all of these major changes are filled with smaller changes mixed in! Life is all about change. And although each and every change has it's own set of worries, anxiety, and joys!

I am thankful for the happiness and raindrops of Spring. The carefree days and sunshine of Summer. The brilliant colors and reflection of Fall. The quiet stillness and perseverance of Winter. Isn't it amazing how our lives do indeed have times just as the calendar seasons. We learn. We grow. We sew. We reap. We persevere. And somehow we come out on the other side. Changed...different...better. And there are times when we can't find right away what exactly we are supposed to learn. There are seasons that feel long, lonely and dormant...like the Winter. And then, just as every year, the Spring comes.

Thank you, God, for the changing seasons. And thank You for Your FOREVER presence in each season and in everyday!
