So! We have completed two weeks of school! Whew! So far, it's been exhausting! Ha. The first two weeks were more of a review for Grayson and he did very very well with this. Aside from the occasional hiccup, he had a really great couple of weeks! Ada is loving it so far, just as we knew her little girl self would! ;) So here's a small (and I say small because the pictures are just every now and then when my confusion settles enough to take one) look into our first couple of weeks! ;)
Ada spent 7 days learning about The Creation Story. I love that this curriculum introduces them to the single most important story first. Where did we come from? To whom do we belong? And isn't this world God created amazing?! She spent several days telling me the story using her numbers she colored and book she illustrated. :)
As I mentioned, Grayson spent the first couple weeks reviewing his letters and doing some handwriting practice. Handwriting could by far be his least favorite thing to do, but like always, he survived! ;)
Calendar time!
Sorting :)
I try to add in an extra "fun" box to their work boxes. He really enjoyed the fire truck! :)
History of scrolls and making a small one. He will use his letters that he did the first two weeks in a large alphabet scroll next week!
Another history lesson...this time on the Jewish calendar.
Journal time is probably one of Ada's favorites...have I mentioned Grayson really doesn't like to write sentences or practice neat handwriting?? ;) He is coming around though! I resorted to placing a skittle on each correct use of capital letters, punctuation, and leaving spaces between words. This has greatly increased the motivation during journal time! ;)
Ada made a creation poster and book. She would color and draw all day! She loves it!
Pattern blocks and phonics made an appearance in the boxes this week, too!
Learning was soil is made up of. He absolutely loved the science! He spent lots of time doing this and can tell you every detail! I did sneak in some writing by having him record his results, "like a real scientist". :)
Exploring through a bucket of dirt from the woods! Critters, sticks, leaves, acorns, and dirt all on his hands...he was a happy boy! :)

Ada spent time outside taking pictures of things God made and things man made. We then printed them and put them on a poster!
They also each do silent reading time for 20 minutes a day, and computer work. Most often that is Starfall or XtraMath. They both really enjoy the computer time.
Overall it's going great! A very very very busy time, but fun! Grady is in, on, around, underneath, and between everything we do so it can get quite interesting at times, but with a little schedule tweaking and routine making, I think it's going to be a great year! :)
