Surprise!

Today was full of them! Surprises! some good and some not so much! Started out as a pretty ordinary day. Daddy decided to surprise Grayson with a day at work...he was delighted! So dressed in his work shirt, boots, jeans and pockets full of things he "might need for work", and off he went! The little ones and I had a few things to get out and do so we did! I got my hair trimmed, while Ada Grayce and Grady had snacks and looked on. No meltdowns or drama fits...SURPRISE! Then, it was off to gymnastics...I was playing with Grady and something caught my eye...SURPRISE! He now has three teeth on the bottom! He has another tooth, and I haven't even noticed!!! That left me feeling like a world class mommy...and just as I was about to recover and convince myself that it just came through today and that its totally OK that I haven't noticed it, I look up and Ada took a spill on the trampoline! She was a big girl, until, SURPRISE!! Her toe was bleeding from a little cut she received during her spill...this required rinsing, band aids, and popsicles! :) But SUPRISE! despite her limp and dramatic way of telling you, she is going to be able to keep her toe!!
Once we got home, the crazy began. Getting them all fed, happy and ready for naps! Fixed a bottle immediately because Grady had just about had enough. While he was eating, I quickly prepared the other two their lunch and got them settled down to eat. Ran back to Grady, scooped him up and did something I NEVER do!! The plan was to do a quick diaper check (in a way I never have before) and get him in bed...SURPRISE!!! Poop!! Yep, gross! I NEVER do that! NEVER before have I stuck my finger in to check a diaper...why today?  why with poop? Ewww..grosss....NEVER. Ever. Again. will I check a diaper that way! Don't get me wrong, baby poop itself doesn't really gross me out (I have three children...I am used to poop)...I think it was partly the SURPRISE! factor and the fact that I had to scrub it off MY finger...YUCKO!
And then there was a nice surprise, nothing really dramatic, just a nice..."yay for Mommy" Surprise! I fixed my usual lunch, a salad...went over to the cabinet to get my tuna to put on top and sadly there was no more...I continued plundering for a few things to throw in my salad, when SUPRISE! a hidden pack of tuna! YAY :)  Off to enjoy lunch and a little quiet time...
