My Sister

"To the outside world we all grow old.  But not to brothers and sisters.  We know each other as we always were.  We know each other's hearts.  We share private family jokes.  We remember family feuds and secrets, family grief and joys.  We live outside the touch of time." ~Clara Ortega

Today is all about a sister! We spent a large majority of the day together, making curtains and a wreath for her new classroom, while wrangling kids! We managed to get most of it done while they were napping! It was fun!

My family is a big one...a complicated one, I guess you could say. But in the midst of complicated there is my sister. No, not a sister by birth, and actually our parents are no longer married, but she is my sister nonetheless! My sister and I have history, deep connection...we get each other! We are opposites on most things, but we get each other. She is one for which I am so very very grateful! and she definitely made today a good one! :)

Back to the crafting we did today! She has recently been hired on to teach 6th grade Social Studies at a local middle school! She is thrilled and her excitement radiates and you can't help but smile and share her excitement! She picked out terrific fabric...

And after cutting, ripping, tying, ironing and sewing we had two fabulous curtains and a cute little scrap fabric wreath for her classroom!!

It was a lot of fun! And then, she so graciously took a long walk with me and made a lovely trip to the grocery store! (one of my very least favorite things to do!)

So today, I am feeling happy for her, excited to help, and blessed that we call each other sister!
