Ordinary

"A lot of ordinary days add up to an extraordinary life"

We've just completed our first 6 weeks of school for 2019. Some weeks were spot on, others were consumed by sickness and lulls. We started family journals at the beginning of the year to help us all keep ourselves accountable...exercising, completing our daily tasks, drinking enough water, eating the right food and so on. The kids have enjoyed the accountability and the parents too. They earn little rewards (sleeping in our room, a new book, a couple dollars) for staying on task and checking off those boxes! We don't get it done every single day, but most and we don't do it on the weekends, because those are our relaxed days, but we like it!

School is going well! Math has gone digital and it's AWESOME! Just what we needed! The big kids love it and it relieves me of that responsibility. It keeps tracks of grades and everything! It's wonderful. Language is still going awesome...aside from the sentence diagramming headache, all is well! Still working on South Carolina History and started a science unit on energy. The three grade school babies also started their class at USCA once a month for a math and science class. Always a fun thing for them. And zoo classes resume for the Powell kids next week! Spring has made its way to us early this year, it seems, and we are soaking it up. We had hoped for a good snow this year...would be the first in our home, but no luck! Maybe next year! The little one continues to be precious and sweet and say all the things in her cute little sing songy way. She rocks a princess dress daily and has to have some type of head ware...hat, bow, hood...anything, but never the same thing two days in a row. She's filled to the top with sweet and is really learning what and how we control our emotions and communicate. She loves playing outside, watching Daniel Tiger, and doll tea parties. She improves daily and we are so proud of the sweet little lady she's becoming!

Winter art for my art wall!

100 Days of Kindergarten complete for this guy!

Spoon puppets and counting pennies :)

Did I mention we LOVE digital math! We had been doing lesson book and workbook style since we started and when they completed their current level and were ready for the next, we decided it was time to do it on the computer. And I'm so glad we did!

Outside picnics and patterns in nature :)

Ada completed book one of language. Grady got all of his mid year math assessment correct. And Grayson completed the entire Harry Potter collection since receiving one for Christmas from Aunt Merf! He absolutely devoured them.

 Girl Scout Thinking Day 2019!

We spent the whole day outside last week...went for a run and flew a kite. Boy was it a great day!

Grayson is so blessed to be able to learn so many things from his dad and uncle. They willingly take him to work and allow him to help with different jobs. Quality time is his love language so this fills his tank big time! He is such a smart boy who is always eager to learn and help. He makes us proud!

All of these ordinary days really make our life what it is! We love this life. It's a simple, slow life, and that is intentional.  We keep our commitments low and our time together high. It's different from most but we are okay with that. These are the days that fill our heart and make us happy, and for now, we will continue to enjoy these ordinary days to the fullest.
