First Day Hike (Exploring the 47-Hamilton Branch State Park)

We started the new year, our favorite way. Together! In the woods! We joined a group at Hamilton Branch State Park for a hike on their trail with the park ranger. Ada still mentions she may want to be one someday, so it's a lot of fun when they get to be around them and hear the kinds of things they do and study. She did a wonderful job explaining many different trees, habitats, and other general information. Grady is convinced he wants to be a "survivor" when he grows up...basically hunt, build tee pees and fires and live on his own. LOL. Analeigh was happy to have her comfy seat in her "hike", as she calls it, and was totally content hiking and snacking back there. It was a great little day trip with my tribe and served well as a little "get us through to our next camping trip" and Grayson got to cast a few times with his new fishing pole...so, happy boy!
We went from Thanksgiving to Ada's birthday with no camping...that felt like forever! I think the kids asked multiple times a week how many days until our next trip...I see a camping countdown board or blocks in our near future. Ha. We love it...the simplicity, the together, the adventure, the time to just be. It's our favorite.
