Special Dates :)

I had planned, when the year started, to try and take the kids on individual dates once a month. Well, best laid plans, and they just didn't succeed! We will have managed 2 mommy and daddy dates by the time the year ends. But, we were however, able to squeeze in an individual mommy date with the big kids the past couple weeks, so we will count that! It's so rare! Hard to fit in one-on-one time when there's no one really close by to watch the others! So splitting up may be how we have to get it done! ;)

Two weeks ago Grayson and I had a Friday night date! His number one love language is definitely quality time and gifts. The hardest part is sometimes the quality time gets lost in the hustle. However, for him, it can be something as simple as sitting and reading a book, just him and I, and you can see his heart soften a little.

We went to his choice of restaurant, he picked Chinese! And ate his whole meal with chop sticks! So cute :) Then we made a little stop by Target and got some new pants for the quickly approaching cooler weather and he picked out a few small treats to put in his treat bucket to earn. He has yet to earn one, but soon, I am sure. He has been experiencing some "growing pains" lately and we just seem to be at odds a lot, so this time was particular important to both of us, I think. We had the best conversation and I loved hearing all that he had to talk about. He's such a deep thinker and his mind is always going! And he loves to tell you all about what's going on in that head of his! His conversations are wonderful! He's going to be an amazing young man. Along with his intellectual mind, he is very strong willed. These qualities will serve him well in adulthood, it's just a matter of teaching him to channel that intellect, determination, and strong will positively to serve The Lord. After all, this is our sole purpose. It's a work in progress and he keeps me on my toes! ;) I love him with every ounce of me and am so incredibly blessed that God chose me to be his mommy! <3

Ada and I got our turn this past week. What fun we had. :) We went all girl and got our toes done (which she LOVES!) and dinner. :) She is not nearly as talkative as her brother, but her face says it all. She definitely enjoyed her time! :) Ada is a gentle soul. Her love languages are physical touch and acts of service. She has always been an affectionate child. To put it in her words, "she likes to loving on you" ;) She's also always the first to notice when someone has done something for her and always makes it a point to say thank you. You can put a cheese stick and crackers on a plate, and she will be overjoyed and appreciative of you doing that! She is really very easy to please! ;) She's such a sweet and precious little one. She adds so much softness to our life. And it's always nice to slow down and soak up her sweetness! ;) I also love her, too. With all my being. I never anticipated raising a girl, but boy am I glad God saw it fit for me to do so.

Each of the big kids have a quickly approaching special date, with will be lots of fun. And my little one has a big day next week! And we will celebrate allll week! My sweet October baby.
