Exploring The 47-Sesquicentennial State Park

Sesqui State Park over Labor Day weekend was a big hit for our family. Day one, of course, included set up, which we have gotten pretty efficient at, if I do say so! The big kids are usually pitching in and helping where they can, even if just walking around with the curious little one. ;) And then we just chill and enjoy the site for a bit, playing ball and hammock swinging. There was a splash pad here, and Analeigh was totally loving it! It was great to have something her size and that wore her completely out. Ha! She's a busy little girl, always on the go and very independent minded these days.

The food was great! Lots of grilling. We did loaded sweet potato fries, with chili and cheese, Hamburgers, grilled ranch chicken legs, and of course our every trip meal...walking tacos. Lunches are usually sandwich or quesadilla. Something quick and easy without much clean up. We have really enjoyed trying new meals and grilling new things. It's a lot of fun :)

Day 2! It's kind of become a little thing, after we wake up for everyone to crawl in our bed and watch a cartoon movie while we all wake up, then it's outside for breakfast and finding out what the day has for us. The biggest boy, girl and I went for a trail run/bike ride. It was a highlight for me and them, I think. We got in about 4 miles and some hills! They loved it and have really began to appreciate exploring new trails and seeing what's out there. The rest of the day was spent playing outside games, hammock swinging and eating. ;)  After Ana went down for  the evening, Daddy took the big three back to splash for a while and we had our fire and fun.

One source of natures entertainment on this trip was the caterpillars that we observed. Probably hundreds eating limbs completely bare. It was fun to watch and compare as they ate.

Day 3, the boys hit the water and the girls hit the splash pad. Roasted hotdogs for lunch and lots of bike riding in the afternoon.

Departure day included cleaning up, enjoying their cinnamon roll waffles (that's become a favorite so we do it every departure day), and a quick stop at the playground before we headed home.

The trip was great! This was a park that everyone enjoyed and ranked quite high on their rating list! Our most recent trip was this past weekend, spent in the mountains, bringing in the fall season. Blog to come on that soon! They just keep getting better! <3
