Exploring The 47- Hickory Knob

Back in mid August, we explored Hickory Knob State Park for the weekend. The week leading up to it had lots of hiccups, but we made it and its just what we needed! This park overall wasn't our most favorite, but camping and being together is our favorite part of this whole thing, so it was perfect despite a little obstacle here and there!

Our site was on the water, just a short path to walk back and forth. This was great for big kid fishing! A little nerve wracking with the little one, but she did very well! Overall, the trip went very well, aside from the park having LOTS of ants and red dirt, it was nice to get out of town and enjoy time together!

Most of the time was spent fishing, rock skipping, hammock swinging, trail biking and playing on the great playground they had there! They had a toddler swing and that was just the right spot for her. She loved it!

Grady was dubbed the campfire master...he gathers the best sticks and has it up and going in no time! he is also the master of adding wood the next evening and getting it started back up with just a little arrangement and blowing!

While on this trip, a multipurpose stick provided most of the entertainment! And now travels on all our camping trips.
Grayson got lucky and did catch a flish!

Fun food for this trip, was our new tradition of cinnamon roll waffles the morning we leave, loaded nachos cooked over the campfire and the most perfect s'more we have found! we all love the balance of cracker, marshmallow and chocolate! ;) We had s'mores both nights, because, well, they were great! Walking tacos is pretty much an every trip meal as well and that was dinner the second night!

Our next trip was to Sesquicentennial State Park on Labor Day weekend and I will catch up on that soon! It was definitely a favorite so far!
