May 5, 2018, Chris set out to run his race and the kids and I counted down hours until we hit the road to be there at the finish! He's been preparing and excited to take on his first 50 miler (FIFTY MILES...on his feet!) for months. He's done some in the thirties and ran 40 miles in December, but this was the first 50. I don't know how he does it...or why (lol!) but I do know he makes me and his children SO proud. He shows us what true determination, drive, dedication and commitment looks like. He trusted himself and the process enough to dig deep and accomplish what his heart desired. He's found a passion and we are so proud to support him in it. He somehow manages to accomplish this amazing feat, all while still being an amazing spouse, father and such a dedicated hard worker. Such an extraordinary accomplishment and a true privilege to be a small part of it and share in his success! I can only imagine what's next, and am so so grateful the four kiddos and I get to be a part of it! We are, without a doubt, his very biggest fans...forever and ever! We are so proud of this ultra dad and the even more proud that he's ours! <3
We passed the time waiting for the finish, picking flowers, getting in some little runs, and snacking! It was a fun time and we definitely look forward to being a part of daddy's future runs now that everyone is getting bigger and a tad bit easier to entertain and travel. ;)
Grayson ran down the trail a bit when we knew they were getting close and ran them to the finish. He enjoyed it and I think Daddy was glad to see him there! Official finish time was 9:59:09. He wanted to finish in under 10 hours and that's just what he did!
We loved being a part of his day and witnessing his huge accomplishment. I can only imagine where he will go from here, but I know I can't wait to be a part of it. We are an ultra family and so so proud of our ultra dad!
