Words To Remember- "Jesus is more valuable than anything else."
So, I am a bit behind in posting this unit, but better late than never! So here it is. Last week, Grayson and I completed our 20th unit, Jewels. We are on the down hill side of Kindergarten, and it feels great! ;) Jewels were a fun unit, we did a lot of rock, gem, and jewel exploration over the last couple weeks and it was fun for us both, definitely for the little scientist!

March is in the books! Once we got through January, the year sure has flown!! Summer will be here before we know it.
We listened to "Lord You are More Precious Than Silver" many times during our unit study. He loves having music on, so this helped with motivation to keep doing our work. :) One of our kid National Geographic Magazines that I had put up, were all about gems and birthstones. He very much enjoyed reading about everyone's birthstones. He finds it amusing that his daddy has a purple one and mommy has orange. ;)
I have been adding in a little extra word family practice with him just to dig a little deeper on the reading, he is requiring a little more of a challenge to go along with the curriculum, and is enjoying the challenge.
We also revisited tally marks some during this unit, just to clear the fog a little. ;)
Our rocks that we started tumbling during our rock unit finished up last week. They had lots of fun checking these out with the magnifying glass and comparing to their chart to see which rock it is.
Still continuing his reading and letter practice. :)

"Little Jewel Bird" was a fun book that was new to me and him, so we read it several times. And also put some food out for our hummingbirds. Took them a few days but they did find it, and we will be making more food today!
Counting jewels and making addition equations during math.
I found a little extra gem mining kit at Hobby Lobby. This was a fun outside activity, and he spent hours crushing and brushing at the plaster to find the jewels. And after he found them all he kindly gifted them to the people he loves most. ;)
Day 6 was laid back and simple. We got the work done and then we gem mined. There you have a very condensed, watered down, late posted Jewel unit! ;)
The best part about our next unit, butterfly, is that most of it gets to be done at Papa and Rosey's house. We have watched our caterpillars turn into cocoons and now we are patiently waiting for the butterflies to emerge. Pretty cool! ;)
