Unit- Kangaroo
Letter- Kk
Number- 17
Words To Remember- "I am safe in God."
Kangaroos are some of my favorite animals...Australia is one of those dream places, I would love to visit one day, and I just love kangaroos. We had fun. And stayed on track! A six lesson unit in six days! Whoo hoo! ;)
We did our basic introduction to the unit and letter...lots of reading and map looking. He is all about the info, these days.
We started learning about fractions during this unit...this was kind of hard for me to teach? Some things you know and have known as long as you can remember are very difficult to teach to someone who knows nothing about it, but I think for the most part he grasped the concept, and knowing him, he will probably be explaining it to me next week! ;)
Fruit salad using fractions!
Of course we used our blend ladder for more word practice! And we did a little map study, looking at how far away from us it was and all that. And he, on his own, informed me that it is probably warm there since its close to the equator. ;)
We have started reading a shirt story each week, using a lot of his words from the unit, he read this to Daddy at supper also, which he enjoyed a lot!
He spent a lot of time looking through National Geographic magazines to find animals that hop. He could have looked at those all day!
He thoroughly enjoyed sewing (all by himself) a pocket on his apron to put his bunny in. He has always loved to watch me sew and "help", so he found it quite a privilege to have the opportunity to sew on it by himself. And he did a pretty good job too! ;) We squeezed in a little more fraction practice using play dough cookies.
I know I say this at the end of every unit, but it is so hard to believe we have come this far! It is really going well and I am so so thankful for this opportunity! Next is Zebras! ;)
