Edisto Beach...my heart <3 I often tell my family, Edisto is my love language, and I'm pretty sure that's about right. It's a place of wonderful memories, sweet salty air and rest (even though kids at the beach is no rest! Ha). It's just a special special place and every year, for the last 16 or so, Chris and I have made a trip there. First dating, then honeymooning and married, and now with our kids. It's special and as soon as the trip ends, reservations are made for the next! This past May, we made our yearly visit, and we loved every single minute of it!
Day 1! We got set up and then did a lot of hammock sitting, badminton playing and snack making and eating. It was the perfect way to start our vacation. The big kids and I took an evening walk on the beach and then enjoyed the fire and s'mores.
Day 2 started with a fun breakfast...if you have tried jumbo flaky biscuits in your waffle iron, do! It's perfect, done in a couple minutes and ready to open up and put in your eggs, sausage and cheese. After breakfast, we hit the beach and while there we got a fun treat of watching the turtle ladies move a nest back from the water! Then we rested, had lunch and did our annual visit to Botonay Bay. It's about a half mile walk our, and little one walked about the whole thing and the view is totally worth the effort.
The turtle ladies doing a lovely job rescuing and marking nest so that these turtles can hatch and return back to lay their own!
Botany Bay
Day 3, we did a little shopping and playground playing in the morning, spent time with April and David, and had us an afternoon on the beach!
The full moon over the water was beautiful!
Day 4, we did a morning on the beach and had some special visitors! The kids were excited to spend a day with Papa and Rosey. Chris grilled everyone a hamburger, we made frosty in the ice cream maker, rode bikes and enjoyed a family day.
We challenged ourselves to eat a different kind of s'more each night and not a single one of us complained about it! They were all so yummy, but the vote for the traditional s'more 4-2! They said they prefer roasting the marshmallow and just generally enjoy the traditional style, but did like the others. We had Thanks-a-lot s'mores, S'more casserole, s'more dip (not pictured) and traditional s'mores. It was fun! :)
The two biggest kids and I did a sunrise walk on the beach before we left. It was a treasure...we saw interesting things. Deer tracks, sea turtle tracks, and of course the sun come up.
Until next time...<3
