This hike deserves a post all its own. It's definitely one we will all fondly remember and worth jotting down for us to look back on! While camping at Oconee State Park in April we made a little morning trip to a close by waterfall hike. Yellow Branch Falls was a 3.4 mile round trip hike out and back. It wasn't an extremely technical trail but had a couple river crossings and some step climbing towards the end. Every single step was worth the beauty that waited at the end! It was breath taking and I think I can speak for everyone.
The kids were absolutely taken in by the variety of trees, flowers and wildlife they discovered along the way. River crossings on stones and logs were by far a favorite of the hike, as well.
I always go hiking well stocked with drinks, suckers, gummies, and treats to keep the kids occupied and full of energy. 3 miles in the mountains is definitely some distance for little ones, but they really love it and do so well.
Once we arrived at the fall, everyone took several minutes to take it all in, got their lunch out of the bag, found a good rock to perch on and enjoyed their lunch by the rushing water. These little afternoons are what dreams are made of. Pure magic. Perfection.
Grayson is maturing so quickly, and where my Ada gets very chatty about all the neat things she's seeing, Grayson did the opposite. He just gazed and marveled at the wonder he was seeing. Took it all in and it was such a moment for a mommy to witness his awareness of the small bit of God's amazing handiwork.
This hike, view, and beautiful site will always be a treasured memory for this mama.
