Doing some backtracking and trying my best to at least hit the highlights of the year before a new one starts. :) A big goal of mine during school, was to stay focused and get it all done. Hoping to leave less loose ends and really be able to enjoy our time off when it comes. We went for 8 weeks this past unit and now we are off for winter break! Just get to enjoy the holidays and have some fun! But, with intense focus on school comes sacrificing my time to blog, sew or really anything other than school, cooking, and afternoon taxi service by mom. Ha. So! First on the list was catching up here before we ring in the new year, because it's already shaping up to be a busy one!
Hunting Island was our Fourth of July spot! We had a great trip, but y'all! It was HOT. And those mosquitoes. Wow. I don't know what to say about those things. We tried to grin and bear it, but they were AWFUL. We had on more bug spray, bug dots, and bug bracelets than we have worn in all our trips combined and they still ate us up! The beach was the best place to escape from both the heat and the mosquitoes so we spent a large amount of time there.
One of my favorite things about holidays is planning fun treat food and games. It's always nice to break away from routine and throw in some fun stuff! We played ring toss with flags and ate lots of yummy goodies and managed to take a selfie with a deer!
Day 2, it was back to the beach for the morning. Then we put our sign out and watched the military fly over from the beach. After great naps, we headed to Port Royal for a great evening of fun and fire works!
Port Royal fireworks did not disappoint! We had a blast and gave us a little break from the mosquitoes so that was a win!
Day 3, we headed to see the lighthouse, that was beautifully dressed in red, white and blue. It was a beautiful day and a fun trip!
My crew is already chit chatting and excited about what trips are on the calendar for next year! Exploring, camping, family time, and fun are definitely a highlight of our year! So many fun memories and I'm grateful for every single one!
