We were all a little reluctant to accept that this "icepocolypse" was actually going to happen. Chris fully intended to work Wednesday, and life would carry on as usual. Here's where we were Wednesday morning when we got up...

About thirty minutes into his drive, Chris came back home. It began to get much worse over the course of the day Wednesday. The power flickered all day, but as long as it remained, we made valentines and cooked and just enjoyed a family day.
They were determined to get icicles off everything, so they worked on that awhile.
Grayson was a "snow plow" and Ada was just into the icicles! They spent about 20 min total outside, but they needed it. ;)
It sleeted the entire day!! It was quite fascinating, but extremely nerve racking with the branches constantly cracking and falling and electricity flickering!
I will take pictures of our mess of a yard later, but I am so thankful that as of yesterday when things began melting, our home and surroundings remained in tact! So thankful!!
As things began to melt, no power for 14 hours and counting, and getting a glimpse of the destruction just outside our house on the road, we made the choice to carefully come to safety. ;) So here we are, warm and safe at Papa and Rosey's house, waiting on our home to thaw out. It was an interesting drive! Nothing like the kids and I had seen before and we are very relieved and happy to be here. It was time for a visit anyway, Winter Storm Pax just forced us to go on a little earlier than planned! ;)
14 hours with a tired, restless one year old, and two stir crazy kids...trying to keep them in the "warm" room...yeah, not fun. ;) and I am all of a sudden even more grateful to be a Carolina girl, and that this type of thing doesn't happen often!!! Bring on the sunshine and beach!!!!!
And Papa and Rosey had REAL snow!! :) We will head home in a couple days, and I pray that power is restored to all in our area, and we will begin cleaning the mess. So thankful for this safe, warm, happy place to hide out until then! ;)
