Hh- Horse Unit Recap

In the hustle and bustle of snow days, 100th day, birthday, and life days...I totally forgot to do a unit recap on our Hh unit!! So I went back and gathered the pictures and put it together for ya! Sorry in advance for the lack of bulk to this unit recap, we were just making it! ;)

Unit- Horses
Letter- Hh
Number- 14
Words to Remember- "I obey right away."

This unit was simple, fun, and choppy! But we covered the important stuff, there just wasn't much "horse beef" added! You can look back at the snow day post to see we did lots of activities, just not necessarily dealing with horses! ;) As a home school mama, I can tell you, there's some real education in snow! Make it a lesson and count it as a school day! ;)

He spent lots of time on the calendar! He has really been enjoying it so we just go with it! ;)
And he added the famous picture cards to his box! He can hardly believe we have completed 14 units! And nor can I!

Public school had an early release, day off, and late start...poor Grayson only got to take advantage of the day off! ;) And that day off was combined and done all in the same day! Was a little worried he might not be able to shift his focus from snow to school, but he did great and we did get it done! We talked a lot about how horses were used in the past and compared to how they are used now. He definitely enjoyed this conversation! He is a history junkie! And this makes Mommy very happy...I LOVE history so we can spend an hour digging into a particular point of interest! We looked up how they plowed fields, pulled buggies, and how some cops ride them! We also got to make a clay horse...who looked a lot like a dog, but hey, we knew what it was!! :)

We did manage to combine a couple days and still finish on time for our hundredth day! :)
One of the special activities we did is following commands to find a  "treasure"...they both, by listening carefully and doing what I said they were able to find it. Just as a horse follows commands to reach a destination, they too, had to obey in order to reach theirs! This reminds us, that if we stay in God's Word and follow His commands we will find great treasures! What a wonderful reminder!

Today, we finish up on the elephant unit, which was more consistent and we finished just in time for another snow/ice day! I think we will close with public schools tomorrow, and make Valentines and snuggle! :)
