Day of Love...Do-Over!

We decided this year, now that the older kids are getting into celebrations, we would make Valentine's Day a family celebration...not that we really have much of an option to do any other way! ;)
I found printables at Amanda's Parties To Go, and got to work! ;) I had big plans to make several different things, and when it came down to time for everything, I ended up shortening my list, but still trying to keep it special! Our Valentines Day was postponed due to winter weather so we made a do-over day out of Sunday! ;) I am hoping for many many more Valentines Days with my family and maybe I can use up the other ideas in the years to come! ;)

At the beginning of the week, I left out a box and decoration supplies for each child to decorate their "mail box" and each day this week, I put a little love note on the table for them to put in their box! Last year, I got ambitious and did 14 days of love...this year we just made a week of it and it proved to be plenty for me and my little ones...mainly me! ;)

Class/friend Valentines turned out like this...(the tag for the gumballs was found here) and we found the gumballs at Sams! Ada loved writing on all her little cards! And Grayson had a ball filling out some Spider Man cards for his friends, too. :)

We spent our ice/snow day making valentine crafts for grandparents and friends! I wanted to give the cinnamon hearts a try, and it was super fun with the big kids! :) We made pretty tags (tweaking a Christmas version I saw, just a bit) and packaged them up. And maybe they took lots of love in their little box all the way to those grandparents and friends! :) And they were very late hitting the mail box because of our very inconvenient ice storm...

On Sunday, the Powell family celebrated Valentines. We had a special little breakfast, along with a little Valentine treat, and we carried on one of my childhood family traditions with a Valentine spaghetti dinner (occasionally our family had steaks, but we like spaghetti in our house). It was a fun day and I am so glad we were able to have our Valentine do-over! :)

My sweet Valentines! Love them each with every bit of my heart.

I made them each a "love jar". Each one got a jar and a little heart tonight. They will find hearts at random times, in random places and they add them to their jars. Just a little visual reminder of how much Mommy loves them. :) (These little tags were my first PicMonkey experiment...that is an awesome sight!! Check it out for photo editing and little tag projects!)

It was a really fun day for us as a family, and I do believe we have definitely started a tradition here! I love little celebrations with them, so any little special day is a reason to celebrate for me. ;)
